Each branch of human activity has its own history of development. The history of the book was formed over the centuries, at that time there was no printing or writing, the ways of transmitting information could be sound signs or images on stone, tree bark, etc. Modern processes taking place in the field of printing and printing can be understood only by studying its rich history. This fully concerns the development of the book and publishing business in the Crimea. This article analyzes the history and development of publishing in the Crimea in the pre-revolutionary period. Information is provided about the peoples of the Crimea, who influenced the development of publishing on the peninsula. The names of enterprises that operated on the territory of the Crimea are indicated. The archival documents, which indicate the printing enterprises of the Crimea, are analyzed.
