Abstract

The article covers the main moments of the fight against the German-fascist invaders in the Sea of Azov, shows the importance of the defense of Yeisk in the plans of the Supreme Soviet Command and the system of defensive actions of the troops of the Red Army, aviation and the Azov military flotilla. The study is based on documents extracted from the central archives of the Ministry of Defense, the naval and the archive of the city of Yeisk. Many sources are first introduced into scientific circulation.

Archival materials show a great contribution to the defense of the city of its inhabitants: hospitals ensured the restoration of health and the return to service of hundreds of Red Army soldiers; Funds were raised for the construction of military equipment for the Red Army.
