HONORARY TRUSTEE AND DIRECTOR OF THE WOMEN'S PEDAGOGICAL INSTITUTE: BUSINESS CORRESPONDENCE (1908-1910)

Abstract

The publication of a large array of personal sources continues – the business correspondence of the director of the Women's Pedagogical Institute, S. F. Platonov, addressed to the Honorary Trustee of the Institute, Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich. Chronologically, they cover the period from 1908 to 1910. The main topics of correspondence are the functioning of the housing and communal services, personnel selection, the educational process, and the organization of sightseeing trips. The educational institution developed rapidly: its material base grew and improved, the best scientific and pedagogical forces of the capital were invited to teach, which contributed to the growth of its authority. This is evidenced by the admission competition. S.F. Platonov appears to be an excellent administrator, a caring director, ready to help his colleagues and employees. This is evidenced by numerous petitions and offers of financial assistance to their colleagues. Business correspondence is characterized by regularity, while the decisions of the Honorary Trustee were expressed in resolutions.
