CREDIT OPERATIONS OF THE STATE BANK OF THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE IN CRIMEA (SECOND HALF OF THE XIXTH CENTURY)

Abstract

The publication is devoted to the operational activities of the State Bank of the Russian Empire in the Tauride province. The purpose of this publication is to determine the main directions and peculiarities of the activities carried out by the branches of the State Bank on the territory of Crimea, which was part of the Russian Empire. In accordance with the goal, the following tasks are set:

1) to identify the branches of the State Bank opened in the Tauride province in the pre-revolutionary period;

2) to designate the operations of the credit institution;

3) to determine the place of the State Bank in the financial system of the peninsula.

The author comes to the conclusions that the State Bank of the Russian Empire in the Crimea implemented the financial policy of the state along with the treasury authorities, carried out crediting not only entrepreneurship, but also other credit institutions. In the Tauride province, its activities were carried out in both permanent and temporary branches, established specifically in accordance with the needs of the guests of the peninsula in the summer season. Also the list of services included operations with securities, issuing loans, money transfers between banks, money exchange, receiving payments and keeping funds on current accounts.
