Abstract

The history of the Soviet Kurds, who represented an ethnic minority in the USSR, can be classified as "insufficiently studied subjects of national historiography. The appearance of the new book of famous scientist N.F. Bugay and Yuri Dasni, timed to the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, seems a timely response of the historical science to the challenges of our recent and still unexperienced past. The authors have been able to show how, despite such a complex and controversial fate, which was formed in the context of national policies pursued at the time, associated with destructive interference in the lives of peoples, which led to their ordeal, the Soviet Kurds have made a significant contribution to the history of the state. They were actively involved in solving such priority tasks as maintaining the integrity of the state - the USSR, creating the conditions for ensuring its security, the defeat of fascism, not only in their country, but also in Eastern Europe. The Kurds remain in history an organic part of the population of Russia and the true defenders of their homeland.
