The article shows the evolution of the appearance of Koreans in the Far East on the basis of new archival documents, including local archives. The author pays special attention to the Kamchatka Peninsula, one of the distant regions of the Russian Empire. Scholars have conducted their research in different ways, based on their own interest. Therefore it is not accidental that the numerical characteristics of this area are noticeably scattered, requiring considerable effort to bring them into a certain order and concentrated expression. But nevertheless new finds replenish the available data on this interesting question concerning the Far East, and as a whole the Russian statehood.
Gradually a certain picture is built up, which undoubtedly helps both to strengthen the disclosure of the political side of society, and raises new questions, which require both new searches and generalizations. Therefore, each new finding is a certain contribution to the study of the question as a whole, expanding the horizons of the studied aspect, also allows us to make some adjustments to the available data. The same can be traced in the article presented to the reader.
The all-Russian census of 1897 records that 26,500 Koreans lived in the Far East of the Russian Empire. However their arrival to the regions of the region didn't stop in the following time.
